Birth & Death Registration

Navsari Municipal Corporation (NMC)

The registration of births and deaths within the jurisdiction of Navsari Municipal Corporation (NMC) is a legal responsibility under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969. This process is now fully computerized, and citizens can access related services through their respective ward offices or designated civic centers.

Important Guidelines and Information
  • Birth or death registration within 21 days of the event is free of cost.
  • From 21 to 30 days: Registration is allowed with a late fee of ₹20.
  • From 30 days to 1 year: Registration is done with a ₹50 late fee along with an affidavit submitted to the Executive Magistrate.
  • After 1 year: Registration is allowed only with the approval of the Commissioner and a court order from a First-Class Magistrate.
Name Registration
  • The child’s name can be added within 1 year from the date of birth without any fee.
  • From 1 to 15 years, name inclusion is allowed with a ₹50 late fee.
  • After 15 years, no name addition is allowed under any circumstances.
Certificate Copies
  • The first copy of the birth or death certificate is provided free of charge within one year.
  • Additional certified copies are available upon submitting the prescribed application form.
  • For each copy, a fee of ₹70(₹50 certificate + ₹20 admin charges) is applicable. Certificates are available in Gujarati and English.
  • After one year, for each copy, a fee of ₹120 (₹50 Birth and Death Registration Fee + ₹50 Child name note fee + ₹20 Application fee) is applicable.
Important Notes
  • All required details for registration must be filled out clearly and correctly in the prescribed format.
  • Once registered, no changes or aliases can be added to the name on the certificate.
  • For death registration, ensure the correct and commonly used name of the deceased is provided.
  • The birth certificate is often required for school admission; citizens are advised to obtain it without delay.
