About the Municipal Corporation
The Navsari Municipal Corporation (NMC) is the principal civic body responsible for the administration and governance of Navsari city in the state of Gujarat, India. Established in January 2025, the corporation was formed by upgrading the erstwhile Navsari Vijalpore Municipality (Nagarpalika) as part of a state-wide urban governance reform that created nine new municipal corporations across Gujarat.
The formation of NMC marked a significant step toward strengthening urban infrastructure, improving service delivery, and enabling planned development in response to the city’s growing population and expanding urban footprint.
Jurisdiction & Administrative Structure
The jurisdiction of the Navsari Municipal Corporation extends beyond the limits of the former Navsari municipality. It now includes the semi-urban town of erstwhile Navsari Vijalpore Nagarpalika including four surrounding villages named Dharagiri, Dantej, Eroo & Hansapore.
The corporation functions through elected representatives and administrative officials, operating under the provisions of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act. Its structure enables decentralized decision-making while maintaining accountability and regulatory oversight.
